Vrouwen en mannen zijn gelijk en horen evenwaardig behandeld te worden. Toch? Naar onze mening in ieder geval van wel. In de wereld waar Zoë Klunder zich bevindt, op het wereldniveau van Sambo, en in haar dagelijks leven ervaart zij dat dit niet altijd het geval is.

‘Sport hoort te draaien om het verslaan van je tegenstander, niet om het verslaan van het geslacht’

Met de photoshoot hadden we het doel om de kracht van de vrouw te ontwaken en vast te leggen. Om dit te realiseren zijn wij opzoek gegaan naar een mix van vrouwelijk- en mannelijkheid. Met dit gedachtengoed hebben we de set gebouwd en er onze eigen draai aan gegeven.

Daarom hebben wij ervoor gekozen om women empowerment te belichten. Op deze manier zetten we vrouwen even in het zonnetje, en wordt de kracht van de vrouw benadruk. In deze blog leggen we het belang uit van het onderwerp.

Voor ons is gelijkwaardigheid en respect van de essentie, de vrouw is eveneens zo invloedrijk als de man. In de Sambo sport wordt deze gedachte echter niet gedeeld. Ongelijkheid speelt daar helaas een grote rol, samen met onderdrukking en onterecht behandeld worden. De omgang met vrouwen en meisjes is op z’n zachts gezegd niet fatsoenlijk. Sport hoort immers te draaien om het verslaan van je tegenstander, niet om het verslaan van het geslacht.

‘We hebben vrouwen op alle niveaus nodig, ook aan de top. Om de dynamiek te veranderen, het gesprek een nieuwe vorm te geven en ervoor te zorgen dat de stem van de vrouwen wordt gehoord’

In de studio een tuin bouwen, tussen de bloemen fotograferen en zonder daarbij naar buiten te hoeven gaan. We hebben een aantal aanpassingen moeten doen aan het originele concept en het was af en toe spannend of het ons wel zou lukken. We waren op zoek naar een enorm aantal bloemen, wat een beste uitdaging bleek te zijn. Na enige inspanning vonden we iemand die ons kon helpen, onze reddende engel ‘Erik’ die duizenden bloemen heeft geregeld.

Sport is altijd al een groot onderdeel geweest van het leven van Zoë. Al vanaf jonge leeftijd keek ze op naar haar zus, die door middel van Judo haar lef toonde. Zoë’s rolmodel. Daardoor begon zij ook op jonge leeftijd met Judo, waar zij verassend goed in bleek te zijn.

Toen Zoë als klein meisje begon met sporten, was niemand in de sportwereld die tegen haar zei dat ze het kon, los van haar zus. Tegenwoordig geeft Zoë ook les aan kinderen op de basisschool, probeert ze hen het zelfvertrouwen mee te geven en ook de meisjes te overtuigen van hun eigen kracht.

Tijdens de photoshoot was de boodschap die we wouden overbrengen bij Zoë gelijk goed te zien.  We delen de mening dat vrouwen het niet altijd even makkelijk hebben, dat het vermoeiend kan zijn om je als vrouw steeds te moeten bewijzen en uit te sloven om hetzelfde te bereiken als wat een man als doorgaans is gegund. Bepaalde doelen en dromen zijn nou eenmaal moeilijker te bereiken zijn voor vrouwen dan voor mannen. Wij vinden het daarom belangrijk dat vrouwen en mannen gelijke kansen, rechten en mogelijkheden hebben. Daarom staan wij voor women empowerment!
